I'm not a die hard American Idol fan. I've watched only two seasons faithfully. Each season I give the old college try and more times than not I lose interest. Some seasons are just better than others but in the end I try to keep up with who is eliminated each week and who becomes the ultimate winner - The American Idol.
The 2012 season was not my favorite and certainly not a season that prompted me to spend my hard earned money on tickets for the tour but when a call from my 14 year old daughter came at 5:30pm on a Sunday not saying "Mom I have free tickets to see American Idol and the show starts at 7:00pm, how could I say no.
The top 10 "Idols" were talented for sure. They performed individually, in groups and duets. I enjoyed watching each and every one and have to say that it was a lot of fun to see them perform live rather than on TV.
Of course, my favorites from season 2012 were still my favorites live. Colton Dixon and Skylar Laine. Of course they would be my favorites as my personality is split right down the middle between rock and country, I like to say that I'm a rock and roll girl with a country heart. Colton and Skylar did not disappoint. I personally loved Colton's rendition of Billy Joel's piano man and Skylar rocked it out to Miranda Lambert's Gunpowder and Lead as well as Rod Stewart's stay with me.
There was a good variety of hits, something for everyone.
Though I'm not a fan of Hometown Girl, Erika Van Pelt, the crowd predictably went crazy she performed. Don't get me wrong, she's talented, but her style is not for me.
The other highlight of the evening is when Elise Testone performed Led Zepplin's Whole Lotta Love, she did justice with her version.
Philip Phillips and runner up Jessica Sanchez performed a duet and I couldn't help but think that the two of them should have sang Brad Paisley's Whiskey Lullaby. Their voices are perfect for that song.
All in all it was a fun show, good for all ages. . . That's my opinion.

Bourne Legacy
You do not have to have a marathon catching up on the previous "Bourne" movies to enjoy this latest installment but I have to say it was odd watching it without Matt Damon who brought the role of Jason Bourne to life, though there are enough mentions of Jason Bourne throughout the Legacy version to help you remember where it all started.
Jeremey Renner did an ok job as the latest agent trying to save himself from his own government but my personal favorite was Rachel Weisz who played the scientist, she gave a stellar performance.
I think the Bourne Legacy lacked a little in the story and action area that being said, the best part of the movie was the motorcycle chase at the end.
If I had to choose beetween this movie and the latest Mission Impossible, well hands down Misssion Impossible has it. Not that it terribly bad, I've seen much worse but I just felt that it needed a little more spice.
That's just my opinion.

Def Leppard @ Comcast Center, Mansfield
Just got home from seeing the Def Leppard at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA. I have looked forward to this particular show all summer long. I had wanted to see them last summer and opted not to and had been regretting it ever since. Every time I see Def Leppard I enjoy them but this time was something a little extra special. They had much to celebrate as it is the 30th Anniversary of Guitarist Phil Collin being in the band, and the 25th anniversary of the Hysteria Album.
The set list was amazing from the more recent Undefeated to the classics like Foolin', Photograph, the fitting Saturday Night, Rocket, Women, Poor Some Sugar on me and the list goes on and on. A highlight for me was when half way through the show the entire band gathered center stage to perform an accoustic set of their ballads which included the Where does love go when it dies, which they have never performed live before this Rock of Ages Tour. I also enjoyed the pictures up on the screen during their performance of Photograph. They featured all members of the band throughout their careers which was fun to see.
Joe Elliott's vocals were strong, Phil Collin is totally jacked, you can tell that man works out everyday and of course what can I say about our favorite one armed drummer Rick Allen? He Rocks. When he walked out on stage for his part in the acoustic medley the crowd went wild. He has got to be the most admired drummer I know. Losing his arm in a tragic car accident and not giving up what he loves to do, just learning how to do it differently, well, if that's not a role model, I don't know what is.
I'm not sure what was up with the bling though? Joe Elliotts mic stand was totally bedazzled as was his t-shirt along with Rick Savage's shirt. Maybe they stole it from Taylor Swift. But hey, they rocked it out, it's all good. I'm partial to the bling myself.
They closed out the show with Rock of Ages and my only disappointment was that Rock of Ages was the only encore song, it would have been nice to have another.
If it's ever crossed your mind to check them out GO. You won't be disappointed. These 5 Brits will give you a high energy show that you won't soon forget.

Batman- The Dark Knight Rises
As a big DC Comics fan I was very excited to see Batman-The Dark Knight Rises. It's always interesting to me to see the casting of each new Batman movie.
It's your classic fallen hero comeback story. This movie was action packed and I think they did a FABULOUS job with the casting. I'm not a Christian Bale fan but he, indeed, made a great Batman and when I heard that Anne Hathaway was going to play CatWoman, I was not impressed, I, unfortunately, still think of her in Disney's Princess Diary movies where she was such a nice girl so it was hard for me to picture her playing a character like CatWoman. In my opinion, Anne Hathaway rocked the role! Of course it's always nice to see Michael Cain return as Alfred, the faithful and loyal butler to Bruce Wayne.
I walked into the theatre not expecting to love this movie as much as I did The Avengers which was, by far, my favorite movie of the this summer. I figured I'd like this Batman movie, but not love it. I was pleasantly surprised. Turns out it was my favorite Batman yet. You cannot compare Marvel's Avengers to DC's Batman it's simply not fair to either movie. It's not apples to apples. I realized that within the first two minutes. Two totally different movies that should not be compared side by side.
You won't find any spoilers on this blog but what I will say is there were a few predictable moments along with a nice twist to the plot that I didn't see coming and I truly enjoy a surprise now and then. The ending was wrapped up very nicely and made me happy. There's nothing worse than going to a movie and not having a defining answer on the ending.

I Am Ozzy (book review)
For the past year I been on a biography and autobiography kick. People lead such interesting lives. I just can't get enough of them.
Last week while at Barnes and Noble picking up summer reading for my Matthew, I was browsing and what caught my eye on the bargain table...I Am Ozzy.
While I like some Ozzy material and some Black Sabbath (which Ozzy was the former lead singer for) I would not say that I am a die hard fan. But I know an entertaining and interesting person when I see one.
The book was 5.98 how could I pass up that bargain? It usually takes me awhile to read a book, sometimes weeks, sometimes month, only because I'm just so darn busy. When I get a book that completely holds my interest I can't put it down, you will catch me walking around town with my nose in that book until I'm finished. That's how it was with I Am Ozzy. I read it in two days.
I was not disappointed. I knew it would be interesting with some crazy stories but I never dreamed I'd be sitting all by myself laughing outloud.
From his boyhood days, trying to find a way to fit in with his peers to trying to hold a job to the success and failure with Black Sabbath and the surprising success of MTV's reality show The Osbournes, this book will keep you entertained whether you are a fan or not.
It's worth reading just to learn the truth about the infamous biting the head off a bat incident.
I'd like to say more but I don't want to give away the stories. Please let me know if you read this book and what you thought of it.

Welcome to Review This
My good friend Grace has suggested to me that I should start an entertainment blog since I attend so many concerts, movies and plays. After thinking about it, I said to myself why not? I'm going to take it a step further. I'm going to review everything from concerts, to restaurants to books, new products and more.
Afterall what is a review anyway? It's just one persons opinion and I'm rarely at a loss for words when it comes to expressing my opinion. And isn't the world entitled to my opinion? In my opinion I think it is.
So thanks Grace for being my inspiration.
If there is anything that ya'll want me to review just let me know. I'll see what I can do.
